Rural landowner workshops slated for Oct. 29, Oct. 30 in Bryan
Owning Your Piece of Texas and Ranchers Leasing Workshop to focus on legal and economic issues
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host two workshops for rural landowners and agricultural producers on Oct. 29 and Oct. 30 in Bryan, covering a broad range of topics, including legal and economic issues.

Owning Your Piece of Texas: Key Laws Texas Landowners Need to Know will be held on Oct. 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Ranchers Leasing Workshop is slated for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 30
Both workshops will be held at the AgriLife Extension office in Brazos County, 4153 County Park Court.
Registration is available by visiting https://tx.ag/RuralLandownerWorkshops. The cost of the Owning Your Piece of Texas workshop is $75, while the fee for the Ranchers Leasing workshop is $50. A bundle package is available for $100 for both workshops. Registration includes lunch and a copy of the program handbooks.
About the workshops
Owning Your Piece of Texas is designed to provide attendees with an overview of some of the most important legal issues facing Texas landowners, including liability, fence law, water law, eminent domain and more.
Attendees can receive seven Texas Real Estate Commission continuing education credits if they hold a real estate license.
Speakers include:
- Jim Bradbury, attorney, James D. Bradbury PLLC, Fort Worth.
- Luke Ellis, attorney, Marrs Ellis and Hodge LLP, Austin.
- Blake Bennett, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension economist and professor, Texas A&M Department of Agricultural Economics, Dallas.
- Mark Hefner, director of landowner services, Plateau Land and Wildlife Management, Austin
- Tiffany Lashmet, J.D., AgriLife Extension agricultural law specialist and professor, Department of Agricultural Economics, Amarillo.
The Ranchers Leasing Workshop will focus on the legal and economic issues surrounding grazing and hunting leases as well as landowner liability.
Real estate agents attending this program can receive four Texas Real Estate Commission continuing education credits.
